Introductory description
This module allows students to develop research skills by conducting a project in Linguistics and Psychology
Module aims
- to develop students' research skills.
- to provide experience in carrying out cognitive science research with appropriate supervision.
- to develop data analysis skills and key skills such as communication, time management, and working with others..
Outline syllabus
This is an indicative module outline only to give an indication of the sort of topics that may be covered. Actual sessions held may differ.
Procedures are modelled after PS302, with lectures shared:
- submission of project outline agreed and signed by the supervisor
- submission of ethical approval form, approved and signed by the supervisor
- carrying out project
- attend lectures as required
- meet with supervisor as required
- oral presentation of project
- suubmission of raw data and wrtten report of project
Learning outcomes
By the end of the module, students should be able to:
- Ability to conduct and report substantively-sized research project related to Linguistics and Psychology
- Understand and critically evaluate relevant existing research
- Design, plan, and carry out a piece of research within a defined period
- Appreciate the ethical context of research
