Introductory description
The dissertation offers a structured opportunity for independent learning on a topic of philosophical relevance. Module aims
The overall aim is to write a 10,000 dissertation on a topic agreed between students and supervisors.

Students may choose their own subject.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the module, students should be able to:
- Design and carry out a project involving research or a critical review in a chosen field
- Develop a deep knowledge of the chosen research topic
- Develop written communication skills
- Develop time-management skills in the establishment of a research and writing plan
- Develop research skills
- Develop IT skills in presenting the dissertation and using on-line resources while researching the topic.
Research element
Students will be required to complete their own research on a subject of their choice.

Regular supervision meetings to gain feedback on progress.
Written feedback on the final dissertation, explaining the mark that was given, will be provided through tabula.
