This is an indicative module outline only to give an indication of the sort of topics that may be covered. Actual sessions held may differ.

The syllabus will be arranged on an individual basis in consultation with the department and the host institution. It will normally comprise a combination of taught courses and any language training required. It is subject to the approval of the year abroad tutor. Modules selected must not duplicate those taken by students when they are at Warwick but must be chosen to provide adequate preparation for modules students will take when they return to Warwick. Any amendments to the approved study plan must be approved by the study abroad tutor. Students will be assessed by either:

The host institution according to their normal procedures. An official transcript of the grades obtained must be provided. Resits will be assessed by the same methodology as the first attempt, or by the methods outlined in 2 below.
OR
A reflective learning diary recording the student’s experiences of the period abroad and a 3,000-word written summary related to the stated outcomes of the module. The summary should contain contextual information on the host institution, the cultural and academic environments, the skills developed and how they relate to personal, academic and career development. [In addition, there may be a formal presentation or structured interview with questions allowing the exploration of the skills, knowledge and attributes gained during the year abroad related to the stated outcomes of the module.]
[Method 2 may be tailored by Departments; Method 1 may not.]
NB: The choice of assessment method is that of the department not the student and choice may be determined by the degree of confidence in the host institution’s marking arrangements.
