The economics of competition law and goals of competition
law
Markets, market power and competition
The abuse of market power: Article 102 (EU) and Chap II (UK)
Anti-competitive agreements- horizontal and vertical restraints:
Article 101 (EU) and Chap I (UK).

Enforcement and investigations

Learning outcomes

By the end of the module, students should be able to:

• Identify and analyse the relevant legislation and case law applicable to the areas studied
• Critically assess and comment upon the effectiveness of the law and identify any weaknesses
• Independent research on competition law and policy in preparation for seminars and assessment
• Describe and evaluate the economic and political issues which influence UK and EU competition policy
• Contrast UK and EU law and explain their interrelation post-Brexit
• Apply the law to practical problems
• Present arguments orally in class
• Work collaboratively in class to complete a defined task
