Module aims
  1. To introduce students to the fundamental aspects of organisational behaviour.
  2. To understand the internal and external influences on businesses and how they impact on organisational behaviour.
  3. To be able to analyse and evaluate how individuals work in teams including motivation theories
  4. To understand management and leadership, including different leadership theories.
Outline syllabus

    b) External factors including the environment
    c) Internal factors including culture

  2. Individuals within the organisation
    a) Motivation theories
    b) Teamworking
    c) Organisational structures and job designs

  3. Management and Leadership
    a) Functions and roles of management and leadership
    b) Leadership theories

Learning outcomes

By the end of the module, students should be able to:

  • Analyse the external and internal factors that impact on organisations
  • Critically evaluate different motivation theories and apply them to authentic case studies.
  • Analyse the role of team working within organisations
  • Critically evaluate different leadership theories and apply them to authentic case studies.
