Introductory description

The EFQM Business Excellence Model (BEM) is a holistic model for business excellence incorporating the 3 key elements of Direction, Execution and Results. At the heart of the model is the RADAR model:

  1. Define the Results that the organization wishes to achieve.
  2. Develop the Approaches required to achieve the desired outcomes.
  3. Deploy the approaches in a rigorous and controlled fashion.
  4. Assess the ongoing performance and the impact of the planned activities,
  5. Refine these approaches in the light of the results and a deep understanding of the cause and effect mechanisms at play.
This module follows the RADAR model, starting from defining an effective basket of measures of success. This basket will include both financial and non-financial measures, leading measures which predict future performance (for example workforce engagement measures or customer satisfaction measures) and lagging measures which measure current or past performance. The module considers the robust development of appropriate actions to respond to desired results, with due consideration of unexpected impacts and consequences. The module discusses how to monitor, assess and refine the improvement initiatives in order to keep the delivery of long-term results on track.
