Introductory description
The dissertation offers a structured opportunity for extended, independent learning on a topic of philosophical relevance.
Module aims
The overall aim is to write a 5,000 word piece of extended writing on a topic agreed between students and supervisors.

Students may choose their own subject.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the module, students should be able to:
- Develop time-management skills in the establishment of a research and writing plan
- Develop higher level research skills
- Design and carry out a project involving research and/or a critical review in a chosen field
- Develop a deep knowledge of the chosen philosophical research topic
- Develop extended writing skills
Research element
Students will be required to complete their own research on a subject of their choice.

Regular supervision meetings to gain feedback on progress.
Written feedback on the final dissertation, explaining the mark that was given, will be provided through tabula.
