The identification and investigation of a current research topic will help to develop students’ theoretical and practical understanding of current topics, as well as their research and communication skills. Emphasis will be placed on taking a critical approach to the assumptions of prior literature and the methodologies they adopt to address their research question.
Students must take the Research Methods module to be able to select the Research Paper capstone option.
Outline syllabus
This is an indicative module outline only to give an indication of the sort of topics that may be covered. Actual sessions held may differ.
Each student will be allocated an individual research paper supervisor and directed to pursue independent research leading to a paper. Additional training will be provided where required.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the module, students should be able to:
- Demonstrate comprehension of the current literature in the chosen research area, including the boundaries of current knowledge and where these may be extended.
- Critically reflect on different aspects of research
