MA3K5-120 Intercalated Year Abroad
Introductory description
Students will study during a full academic year at a university abroad.
Module aims
The module provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate the ability to study abroad for a year at a host University approved by the department, to experience and gain a deeper understanding of the social and cultural environment of the host city and country, to improve foreign language skills, to travel abroad and achieve personal development in preparation for employment and global citizenship.

This is an indicative module outline only to give an indication of the sort of topics that may be covered. Actual sessions held may differ.
Details vary depending on the approved courses and availability at host institution(s). The workload must be a minimum of 1200 hours to maintain equivalence with that expected for a 120 credit module.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the module, students should be able to:
- demonstrate qualities and transferable skills necessary for working or studying in another country and in a different academic system
- demonstrate improved oral and written foreign language skills
- demonstrate enhanced understanding of different cultures, norms, customs and traditions
