Introductory description
This module will give students the chance to spend some time learning and reinforcing the basics of the Japanese language. It will offer an opportunity for students to improve their communicative competence in Japanese .
Students will discuss and state their opinions on topics surrounding everyday life.
Successful completion of Japanese 3 qualifies students to progress to Japanese 4.
Module aims
- To understand and produce language on topics which are familiar or of personal interest
- To work towards or achieve A2+ standard of the CEFR (Common European Framework of reference)
Outline syllabus

Communicative Situations
- asking and giving advice
- expressing ability and possiblilty
- discribing an action done in preparation
- expressing of regret, embarrassment and completion of action
- expressing one's plans

- intransitive verbs
- volitional forms of verbs
- imperative and prohibitive forms of verbs
- conditional forms of verbs
- passive forms of verbs

Students will learn further Kanji (Chinese characters).

Verbal feedback is provided to the class regarding regular formative tasks set for homework and activities completed in class; individual written feedback is also provided for written work which has been handed in by students. Feedback is also provided orally and in writing on progress test papers.
