LL1B5-0 Spanish beginners for WBS masters students
Introductory description
Students will be introduced to basic forms of language in spoken form that are used in practical everyday situations. They will also learn basic linguistic tools for reading and writing.
Activities will be devised to ensure students can understand and can use the language presented during the lessons. New language will be practised via games, role-plays, and problem-solving tasks.
Module aims
- to introduce students to the basics of the language in written and oral form
- to begin to develop strategies for language learning
- to raise intercultural awareness
- to equip students in survival linguistic skills

Basics of culture to foster intercultural awareness.
Basics of communication such as : greetings, introducing oneself, counting, daily routine, making appointments, writing an email, organising a meeting, booking a hotel, buying a ticket, ordering food, likes and dislikes, personality traits...
Basics of grammar such as : genders, articles, adjectives, prepositions, sentence structure, the negative, asking basic questions...
Learning outcomes
By the end of the module, students should be able to:
- grasp basic grammatical concepts
- present oneself orally to a partner
- gain insight into aspects of everyday life in the relevant countries
- develop basic language learning strategies
