Module aims
Development of interactive skills to gain professional experience in an industrial environment.
Outline syllabus
This is an indicative module outline only to give an indication of the sort of topics that may be covered. Actual sessions held may differ.
The aims and objectives of the placement will be defined by the industrial and academic supervisors, agreed with the student, and clarified in the first feedback placement coordinator meeting at the start of the academic year (October). These will be designed to be of maximum benefit to the company whilst ensuring that the professional development of the student will encompass as wide a variety of experience as possible in the context of the placement.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the module, students should be able to:
- Have a profound understanding of original research as carried out in industry.
- Demonstrate understanding of the fundamental scientific principles that underlie the project work.
- Communicate orally the results of original research.
- Have a professional attitude to research work.
