BS354-24 Assessment for Biological Sciences

Module aims

To complete the development of students' research and transferrable skills through a program of laboratory and tutorial activities (continuation of programs in Years 1 and 2).

Outline syllabus

This is an indicative module outline only to give an indication of the sort of topics that may be covered. Actual sessions held may differ.

Students will complete the third year of a laboratory and tutorial-based skills program. The key aims of the year 3 program are to embed final year level literature and practical research skills and communication skills. This will be achieved through a combination of tutorial set tasks, some of which are formative and some summatively assessed, and laboratory classes.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the module, students should be able to:

  • On completing this module, students will be able to:1. Write detailed and well-researched essays on a variety of topics. Research topics in the literature.2. Demonstrate ability to critically interpret scientific papers
